Your 2022 basic skincare routine
Hit refresh: Your 2022 basic skincare routine
Congratulations! You made it through a chaotic 2021 and presumably, an even more chaotic festive season. If you’re anything like us, you’re ready for a reset – and so is your skin.
This is why now is the perfect time to hit refresh on your basic skincare routine. It’s easy to get swept up in the steady stream of new products hitting the market each and every day, not to mention the influx of contradictory information. So, why not start afresh in 2022 by stripping it all back to basics?
In keeping with our ethos of “skincare simplified”, here’s our rundown of the basic skincare routine steps.
Step 1: Cleanse
It will probably come as no surprise that the first step in any basic skincare routine is to cleanse. Your skin needs to be clean to allow your other products to work effectively and also to clear it of the pollution, dirt, grime, makeup and sunscreen throughout the day. There’s simply no point slathering serums and lotions on top of dirt, oil, bacteria and pollutants. So, whether you’re getting up or getting ready for bed, start by cleansing your skin.
Want to up the ante? Go for a cleanser that does more than just cleanse. Like our overachieving Cleanse + Glow Micellar Water, which likes to tone and exfoliate while it’s cleansing. The perfect addition to your basic skincare routine!
Step 2: Treat
The second step is is to treat. This step will look a little different for everyone, and really comes down to your skin type and skin concerns.
If you have dull or dry skin, you may choose to incorporate an exfoliant into your basic skincare routine, aiming for two to three times a week. You can also apply any serums or active ingredients here, followed by a weekly mask.
Or, you could just save yourself the time and get one product that does it all, like our Sleep + Glow Overnight Mask. This Fairy Godmother of overnight skincare includes the extremely welcome addition of paw paw and pineapple enzymes, which work together to gently dissolve dead skin cells while you sleep, plus hyaluronate to plump the skin and Superox-C to brighten.
Step 3: Moisturise
Applying a moisturiser everyday rebalances your skin, protects the skin barrier from irritation and provides a healthy dose of hydration - essential for everyone (yes, even oily skin types).
Cinch’s Pump + Glow Daily Moisturiser does all of that AND decreases inflamed pores and fine lines. Oh, and it smells utterly divine to boot.

Step 4: Protect
You knew we were going to say it, didn’t you? Basic skincare routine step number four is sunscreen, and we simply will not take no for an answer. Sunscreen protects our skin from harmful UV rays, reducing our risk of developing skin cancers and sun damage. A non-negotiable in any basic skincare routine.
So there you have it: skincare – and your routine – simplified. Kickstart your 2022 with a refreshed basic skincare routine that will leave you hydrated and glowing. You deserve it.
