IWD: How Can We Help?

Happy International Women's Day to all the women in your lives. Our world is FILLED with powerhouse women making change every day, and International Women's Month this March is a reminder to encourage and promote these women (and all women) in our lives and start making a collective change.

​At Cinch this year, we have chosen to focus on a partnership with Fitted For Work, a not-for-profit organisation that helps women in Australia that experiencing disadvantage gain employment. Work provides financial security but also a sense of social connectedness, dignity and pride. They are leaders in sparking those 'big' conversations and championing a push for gender parity. We are here for that!

This month, we will be donating 10% of all sales and $5,000 worth of Cinch favourites to Fitted For Work.

To dig deeper into how we can actually be the change-makers for women globally, we had a chat to some of Fitted For Work's powerhouse women and their advice on this national day of recognition.

For me, IWD is a day to celebrate women and their incredible journeys and achievements but most importantly support women's ongoing success. 

It's an opportunity to reflect and be proud of how much we have achieved yet it should also be a day to empower us all collectively to do more to accelerate gender parity. 

It has always been very important for me to see women having the confidence to get the jobs they really want - without barriers. That's why Fitted For Work means so much to me.  They are leaders in sparking those 'big' conversations and championing a push for gender parity. But most of all, Fitted For Work  is dedicated to helping women experiencing disadvantage to find work, keep work and thrive in their careers and like us believe that every woman has the right to economic security and financial independence. YES! YES! YES!

What does this IWD mean to you?
Until we have gender equity I believe International Women’s Day will always be a call to arms to address gender disparity and commit to building a more equitable future. It is also a day that reminds me of the incredible contribution women make to our society and our workforce. I am proud to work for an organisation that champions and empowers women and grateful to be surrounded in life by inspiring female colleagues, family members and friends.

How can we help to #breakthebias and accelerate gender parity? 
Increasing women’s workforce participation is paramount to accelerating gender parity. By supporting Fitted for Work this International Women’s Day you can help women to grow in confidence and develop the aspirations, skills, and networks to create a career they enjoy and can sustain. At Fitted for Work, we focus on employment not only because it provides economic security, but also a sense of purpose, social connectedness, dignity and pride. We believe when you are fitted for work, you are fitted for life.

What does this IWD mean to you?
IWD for me is a reminder day to stop and reflect - where we’ve come from, what’s been achieved, how can we bridge the gaps?  It’s for collectively celebrating success, acknowledging the incredible achievements made by so many, and educating people about the work still to be done.

How can we help to #breakthebias and accelerate gender parity? 
Change can happen in massive and modest ways and I believe that individually we do make a difference when we shine a light on injustice and inequity. By talking to people we can change perceptions, perspectives and biases and those small changes accelerate the way to bigger ones. At Fitted for Work we’re having those bigger conversations to raise awareness that will help break the bias and push for gender parity.

What does this IWD mean to you?
IWD for me is a day of reflection and action. It is about expressing Gratitude for where I am in my journey in all my roles and relationships (Career, friends, daughter, Mum and Partner). It is also about reminding myself and my sisters  to ‘send the elevator back down’ by, sharing knowledge and life experience, supporting female owned enterprises, mentoring and providing motivation.

How can we help to #breakthebias and accelerate gender parity? 
It’s about the big and the small. Individually we can ask the difficult questions, not settle for second best, call out injustices and inequity and raise the next generation with an inherent sense of gender parity. In a larger Forum at Fitted for Work, we are empowering Women through achieving financial independence.
